About the role

As Controller at Vation Ventures, you'll manage and oversee the company's accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial records, compliance, and operational efficiency. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this role offers hands-on experience with opportunities to improve processes, introduce efficiencies, and contribute to strategic decision-making in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

What you'll do

• Oversee and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
• Manage day-to-day general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Handle accounts payable, payroll administration, and expense reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax obligations, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and support external accountants during audits and tax preparations.
• Implement financial systems and processes to increase efficiency.
• Provide financial reporting and insights to leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience; small business or startup environment experience beneficial.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO), Avalara, Salesforce, and Stripe.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Familiarity with GAAP standards.
• Ability to clearly communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Compensation

Vation Ventures is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role in Denver, CO, is $70k-$90k base salary. This position is for our Denver office, which has a hybrid model. Final compensation for this role will be determined by factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
