Aldine ISD launched the Office of Transformation in October 2019 when Dr. Bustillos was named Chief Transformation Officer. He previously launched the Office of Transformation in El Paso ISD. There he led the creation of small learning communities at a comprehensive high school located at the border of El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and the design and implementation of a modified Accelerated Campus Excellence program at two elementary schools. Since his arrival to Aldine, he has led the plan, design, and launch of bold school actions. Currently, the district is implementing two full school restarts as demonstration Accelerated Campus Excellence schools and recently launched a new alternative high school, Hall Success Academy, La Promesa, Aldine's Young Women Leadership Academy. This year Dr. Bustillos is leading the work to launch five school redesigns, additional day school year for additional two campuses, and the Impact Leadership Academy for boys.
Dr. Bustillos holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas-El Paso in Biological Science, a Master of Education in School Leadership, and his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at New Mexico State University.
